Sharp Leads In LCD TV Race

"Sharp Electronics continued to control the market for LCD TVs, an analyst firm said Thursday.

As Sharp moves to its next-generation fabs, shipments are expected to expand 35 percent in the second quarter and 159 percent year over year, DisplaySearch said.

The most popular category continues to be the 20-inch to 21-inch segment, with 23 percent of the market. Overall, LCDs with display sizes 20 inches and up controlled over 53 percent of the shipments, as manufacturers upped their display sizes to increase their margins.

Japan remained the single largest region for LCD TV shipments with a 36 percent share, DisplaySearch said." Full news @ ExtremeTech
