Samsung SDI Captures Largest Share in PDP Market

" Samsung SDI captured the largest share in the global plasma display panel (PDP) market in the first quarter for the first time.

Samsung SDI has taken first place in the world’s PDP market in terms of production capacity since December of last year. However, in terms of shipment quantity and sales, it is the first time for the company to hold first place, outstripping Japanese producers.

Display Search, a market survey firm specializing in the display market, said in its report on the PDP market for the first quarter that in terms of shipment quantity and sales, Samsung SDI seized 24 percent and 22 percent in the world’s PDP market to claim first place, overtaking its Japanese rival Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display Ltd (FHP), a joint venture between Fujitsu and Hitachi.
