Flat-Panel TV Shipments Top CRT Types in Japan in '03
"Shipments in Japan of television sets with flat-panel displays for the first time topped those of TV sets with conventional cathode ray tubes, an industry group said Tuesday.
Shipments of TV sets with thin monitors, such as liquid crystal display panels and plasma display panels, reached 341.3 billion yen in 2003, against shipments of 307.9 billion yen for CRT TVs, down 25.4 pct from the previous year, said the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association.
Domestic shipments of digital versatile disc recorders and players totaled 232.5 billion yen, up 75.7 pct, while shipments of video cassette recorders came to 39.5 billion yen, down 50.2 pct." Full news @ Forbes
