Samsung Electronics forced to lower LCD TV prices, say sources
"Samsung Electronics recently lowered LCD TV prices by 18-20% due to inventory pressure from poor sales in the US, according to sources in the industry. Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), a key Taiwanese LCD TV panel maker, is also set to cut prices.
US retailer giant Wal-Mart returned US$200 million worth of LCD TV stock to Samsung due to unsatisfactory sales, with perhaps 100,000 LCD TVs being included in the return, according to the sources. Samsung had to lower prices 18% on 46-, 40- and 32-inch models, the sources added.
Although claiming the rumor inaccurate, Samsung refused to comment on the returned stock, according to the vice president of Samsung Electronics Taiwan TFT LCD division." Full news @ Digitimes
