Samsung Electronics Begins Production in Its 2nd Slovak Plant

"Samsung Electronics Co., the world's biggest manufacturer of memory chips, said on Monday it has completed building its second plant in Slovakia, to boost consumer electronics production targeting the European market.

The US$27 million plant, in Galanta, Slovakia, started producing electronic goods such as plasma TV screens, digital versatile disc players and laser printers, the company said.

With the second plant going online, Samsung Electronics will be able to make 7.5 million products, including 45,000 plasma display panels, 1.5 million liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors, 250,000 LCD television sets and 260,000 laser printers in its Slovakia-based plants this year, the company said."
