China claims to surpass Japan in electronics and IT production value
"China’s Ministry of Information Industry (MII) indicated that the country’s electronics & IT 2003 production value of 1.88 trillion yuan (US$227.1 billion) exceeded Japan’s US$190 billion, making China the world’s second largest producer after the US, according to the Chinese People’s Daily Online.
China’s electronics & IT production value totaled 690 billion yuan (US$83.4 billion) for January-April this year, a 45.8% increase on year, the ministry pointed out. In addition, China’s 240 million users of fixed-line and mobile communication networks is the biggest market in the world, the ministry stated." Full news @ Digitimes
